Beth Andrew

Triathlete

Beth is a great inspiration to us all and that's why we selected her as our very first Team Amino Vital Everyday Athlete! Beth started out like so many of us, just an everyday weekend warrior who decided to triathlons due in part to injuries and boredom with her current exercise routine. Figuring that the swim/bike/run would be a well-rounded fitness program, she competed in her first triathlon over six years ago. Since then, she has completed nearly 30 triathlons – including three half-irons and her first ironman in 2013.

Jane, Elizabeth and Anne

Cycling Police Unity Tour Riders

Jane Burns participates in the Police Unity Tour Chapter IV in Fairfax County, VA. She and her teammates Elizabeth and Anne belong to a 1,500 officer department, 400 square miles just outside of Washington DC. They serve a community of about a million citizens. Each team member rides for an officer every year. Jane always rides for Detective Vicki Armel, who was shot while on patrol in 2006.

Sergeant Jane Burns has been a police officer for 16 years. She also serves as a proud member of the Fairfax County Ceremonial Honor Guard. She is a former K-9 handler and Bike Team Unit member. Jane is an avid athlete who enjoys boxing, cycling, and general fitness.

Master Police Officer Elizabeth Melendez has been a police officer for 13 years. She is a “roaddog” and enjoys her position as a patrol officer working the street. Elizabeth has been very active in sports and working out all her life. She enjoys adventure races, yoga, running, and crossfit. Elizabeth is always up for a new challenge and any workout that causes pain is right up her alley.

Detective Anne Rizza has been a police officer for 8 years. She serves in the Criminal Investigations Bureau – Child Exploitation Unit. Anne loves to run, lift weights, cycle, and lead a physically active lifestyle. She’s so fit, she’s been known to ask her workout buddies to go for a run AFTER a 100-mile training bike ride! There were no takers…

Paul Barr

Mountain Biking

Paul has been riding since he was a kid growing up in Kenya, Africa where he rode all sorts of back roads on an old hand-me-down bike that had to get welded every year. He started mountain biking when he moved to Michigan in 2000, but didn’t start racing until 2003. He began competing in local time trials and cross-country races. Eventually, he got into longer distance endurance races, and has been an annual competitor in the Iceman and Ore to Shore races since 2004. Paul started using Amino Vital back in 2005 when it was given out free at the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic in Marquette, MI. He noticed an immediate difference that was not followed by a crash like high sugar or caffeine energy drinks. He tries to drink it in small amounts throughout races. According to Paul, nothing else is the same!
