For Claudia, running has brought both great triumph and tragedy. The Argentinean native earned a silver medal in the steeplechase at the 2001 South American Championships and two gold medals at the 2002 National Championships in Argentina for the 5000-meters and the 3000-meter steeplechase. In 2004, her intense training regimen leading up to the Athens Games caused her bowels to become twisted, a serious medical issue that required two surgical interventions to repair.

But injury would not stop Claudia's determination to continue running. After four long and grueling months of recovery she began training again. Now running with a colostomy bag, hydration became more important than ever. Although she taking plenty of liquids, Claudia still was not being properly hydrated, prompting her to back out of the 2005 New York City Marathon. After discovering Amino Vital in 2006, Claudia earned her best time ever, qualifying her for the 2008 Beijing Games.
